Russian State Duma likely to suspend death penalty moratorium over Beslan terrorist

The Russian parliament, the State Duma, can change the death penalty moratorium in connection with the case of Nurpasha Kulayev - the only terrorist, who remained alive after the Beslan hostage crisis in September of 2004. The information about it was released from the chairman of the Duma's committee for security, Vladimir Vasiliev.

Vasiliev added that he did not know in which way the Duma was going to consider the issue, RIA Novosti reports. In addition, Vladimir Vasiliev believes that one should not withdraw the moratorium on death penalty in Russia.

According to the decree of the Constitutional Court of Russia, it is possible to suspend the death penalty moratorium, when juries start working in all units of the Russian Federation.

Terrorists attacked Beslan's School No.1 on September 1st, 2004. Three hundred and thirty people were killed in the hostage crisis, including 317 hostages, 186 of whom were children.
