Putin: A new threat - terrorism - has been added to the ideas of fascism still surviving in the world

A new threat - terrorism - has been added to the ideas of fascism still lingering in the world, said Vladimir Putin.

"Today we have no right to shut our eyes to the fact that both the Nazi swastika and the ideas of fascism are still roaming the world. And that the no less terrible evil - terrorism - has been added to them," the Russian president said in his address at a Victory Day parade in Red Square in Moscow.

"It (terrorism) also brings death and destruction. It is the task of the entire world community to give terrorists a worthy rebuff and rid the world of that scourge," Putin emphasised.

He warned against forgetting the lessons of history. "We know how fascism was born and that a final blow to Nazism could be dealt only by the world combining its efforts," Putin said.

An explosion has detonated in the Dynamo stadium in the Chechen capital of Grozny, killing some and wounding others, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the scene.
