The State Duma United Russia majority party is holding a nationwide subbotnik (a day of voluntary work to clean the country) on Saturday.
Activists of the party and its Youth Unity are to clean up and beautify towns and villages all over Russia, the party's press service told RIA Novosti. "First of all, they will work at kindergartens, hospitals, rest houses, yards and parks," the press service added.
United Russia deputies led by State Duma Vice Speaker Lyubov Sliska took part in the subbotnik in Moscow. They worked at Moscow's clinics and other places.
All in all, 5,000 activists are involved in the subbotnik in Moscow. "We have enough brooms and others instruments for everyone," the press service said.
The motto of the United Russia's subbotnik is a quotation from Ludwig van Beethoven "Striving for labor has no obstacles".
