Putin meets with international conferences in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin has come out for making Moscow the venue for such international conferences as A Liberal Agenda For the New Century: A Global Perspective. He said as much on Friday night at his meeting with some participants in the forum.

"I would be happy if this happened. I hope that this meeting is not the last in this format and capacity," said Mr. Putin.

The conference opened in Moscow on Thursday. Champions of liberal reforms from different countries gathered for the conference to share their experience.

Mr. Putin expressed the hope that the ideas discussed at the conference "would be noticed and heeded by experts of the Russian Central Bank and the government economic bloc for solving our economic problems." The president hailed the fact that such meetings can be held in Moscow at a time when positive trends can be seen in the Russian economy.

"Thank you for gathering in Russia to discuss economic issues," he said and expressed the hope that the conferees would not only work here but also have a good time.

In his words, Moscow is developing and has become a beautiful and interesting city.
