Kaliningrad plant to produce Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda Motorcycles, Scooters

Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda motorcycles and scooters will be assembled here under license agreements, Rosbalt has learned from the press service of the regional administration. The official opening of the new factory where the vehicles will be assembled is set for April 5 and will be led by Kaliningrad Region Governor Vladimir Yegorov.

The enterprise is a creation of the Baltmotors Group in partnership Chin Chi, a Chinese corporation that produces as many as 2 million motorcycles and scooters a year. The Chinese side has trained the new plant's workers and will be responsible for providing parts and for the quality of the plant's work. The maximum capacity of the new plant's assembly line is 20,000 units a year.

Baltmotors Group has orders in hand from 20 cities in Russia, enough to cover the factory's first six months of production of 3,900 units worth USD 2.5 million, the press office said.
