Moscow, Zagreb claim necessity of Kosovo settlement

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Razov and Croatian First Deputy Foreign Minister Hido Biscevic claimed the necessity of the soonest Kosovo settlement and prevention of the escalation of tension which may have negative consequences for the whole region.

Sergei Razov and Hido Biscevic discussed urgent international problems on Friday, the press and information department of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported. They pointed out their common positions on the formation of a new European security system through a post-conflict stabilization in Southeast Europe.

The sides strive for boosting bilateral cooperation on the basis of the last year's agreements between the Russian and Croatian Presidents.

The elaboration of practical mechanisms to settle the Soviet clearing debt to former Yugoslavia, in particular, Croatia, and the implementation of major energy projects, such as the integration of the Druzhba and Adria oil pipelines, can promote bilateral cooperation.
