About 1000 international observers to attend Russian presidential elections

On Saturday Aleksander Veshnyakov, head of the Russian Central Election Commission reported to journalists that the Commission expected about 1000 international observers to arrive to Russia by March 14.

The head of the commission stated that "a large group of OSCE observers was expected to take part in the presidential elections." According to Veshnyakov, the group will number about 250 people.

Veshnyakov reported that about 140 CIS observers would take part in the election monitoring campaign, a large group of PACE observers is also expected to arrive.

He stated that "by now the Central election commission already accredited about 500 international observers."
