Moscow confirms negative attitude to construction of dividing wall by Israel

Acting Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov confirmed Moscow's negative attitude to the construction of a dividing wall by Israel. In an interview with Al-Arabia TV Channel, published on the official site of the Russian foreign minister on Thursday, Ivanov called this initiative a unilateral step which complicates the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Russia insists that the sides refrain from unilateral actions and strictly adhere to the provisions of the Road Map, stressed Igor Ivanov. .

In his words, this is the only way to establishing a lasting peace in the region which would rely on the international law and international assistance and support.

Russia actively contributes to establishing a direct dialog between the Israeli and Palestinian prime-ministers, said Igor Ivanov.

He also stressed the need to create a Palestinian state.

"I think that without creating a Palestinian state, it is impossible to talk about peace in the Middle East. Those who do not understand this should realize that a Palestinian state must be created both from the historical and legal points of view", he said.
