'Stupidity, theft and carelessness are just as dangerous as terrorism,' Presidential Plenipotentiary to the Privolzhsk Federal District Sergei Kirienko told journalists today when commenting on the tragedy at the Transvaal aquapark in Moscow.
He said that all the checks on potential technical problems must be carried out in good time. 'We already know the kind of places where these tragedies can occur and so we must punish those managers who only choose to carry out checks once a problem has already arisen,' he stressed.
Mr Kirienko said the tragedy in Transvaal was 'not a result of terrorism but of simple stupidity. When people are killed, it makes little difference to the relatives how it happens - as a result of evil intent or because of some technical deficiency,' he emphasized. 'Checks in Nizhnii Novgorod must be carried out in good time,' he said.
25 people were killed in the tragedy in Moscow on February 14 when the glass roof of the Transvaal aquapark caved in.
