Lawmaker slams USA for pursuing anti-Russian policies

The USA seeks to create problems near Russian borders, State Duma Deputy Speaker Dmitry Rogozin announced at a press conference organized by utro.ru. Rogozin said that, when meeting with US Ambassador to Russia Alexander Vershbow today, he made a slashing criticism of the US line aimed at stalling the settlement of the conflicts in the North Caucasus and Transnistria (a breakaway republic within Moldova).

According to Rogozin, Russia worked out a good memorandum on settling the Moldovan regional crisis, but representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and other organizations put pressure on Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin and hampered the signing of the document.
