Central Elections Committee to register the first candidate

The Central Elections Committee of the Russian Federation has accepted a resolution regarding Oleg Malshkin’s candidacy for the President’s post. Oleg Malshkin belongs to the liberal-democratic party (LDPR). He is the first registered candidate.

Malshkin will soon be given a special certificate proving him as a legitimate candidate. Aside from Malshkin, the Committee still has to examine several applications from Nikolay Kharitonov (of KPRF), Sergey Mironov (RPZH), Victor Geraschenko (of “Rodina”), Vladimir Putin, Ivan Ribkin, Irina Khakamada, Vladimir Brintsalov, and Anzori Aksentyev. Signature lists laong with other documents necessary for registration of candidates for presidency have to be submitted tot he Central elections Commitee of the Russain federation no later than January 28, 18:00 Moscow Time.

The Committee wil then have ten days in order to announce official andidates for the President’s post. By February 7th, Russians should be well aware of all the official candidates.
