New visa regulations the USA introduced today will not complicate visa procedures, US Ambassador Alexander Vershbow said when presenting new diametrical equipment for scanning fingerprints. The scanning of fingerprints will take only a few seconds; the only difficulty is that Russian visa applicants should arrive at the nearest consulate office possessing the mentioned equipment, the official said.
The new procedure is supposed to facilitate the receipt of visas for those whose conscience is clear and toughen it for those who leave Russia under false pretexts and with doctored documents, Vershbow specified.
The official said the embassy was now discussing the issue with the Russian Foreign Ministry. According to him, many things about the new regulations did not meet with the ministry's consent, but it has a positive view on the new procedure as a whole.
