Most Russians don't know when Constitution was adopted

The majority of Russians (60%) do not know, when the present Constitution was adopted. This data was collected as a result of an opinion poll conducted by ROMIR Monitoring. 24 percent of respondents gave a wrong answer, and 16 percent know the date right. Compared to last year, the number of correct answers dropped by 5 percent, 5 percent more respondents failed to tell the right year of adopting the Constitution. The number of respondents, who gave wrong answers remained unchanged.

The present Constitution of Russia was adopted at an All-Russian referendum on December 12, 1993. The new Constitution abolished the system of congresses and established the new principles of the Russian government.
