Moscow considers London accomplice to fugitive Russian oligarch

A representation in connection with the recent brief visit by former Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky has been made to the British Ambassador to Russia, Sir Roderic Lyne.

Sir Roderic Lyne was invited on Friday to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where a representation was made to him in connection with the recent visit to Georgia by Boris Berezovsky, who is on the international wanted list of Interpol and against whom criminal proceedings have been instituted on charges of misappropriation, and who flew to the Georgian capital Tbilisi from London with papers issued to him by the British authorities to the name of Platon Yelenin. It is considered in the Russian Foreign Ministry that this cannot be regarded otherwise than complicity in organizing that trip.

Such moves by the British authorities are in out of line with adherence to a positive development of relations between Russia and Britain they had declared, it was pointed out in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
