Analysts propose possible scenarios for Yukos-Sibneft merger

YUKOS stockholders do not intend to let representatives of Sibneft have control over operating activities of YukosSibneft, according to Sergey Suverov, an analyst with the bank Zenith. He said that from the viewpoint of YukosSibneft's key owners this would be inexpedient.

The analyst believes it is possible that YUKOS stockholders may be offered a swap-scheme that envisages releasing Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev (YUKOS key stockholders) in exchange for Sibneft exercising control over YukosSibneft as Sibneft is more favored by authorities.

Suverov admitted that at present it was still impossible to predict a specific scenario for the merger between YUKOS and Sibneft as there had been no official announcements of YUKOS stockholders on why the merger had been suspended and for how long.
