President of the Russian National Reserve Bank (NRB) Alexander Lebedev, who is also a candidate for the Moscow mayor, filed a lawsuit against fugitive magnate Boris Berezovsky. Lebedev claims protection of honor, dignity, business reputation and moral damages to the amount of RUR100m ($3.36m). According to the NRB press service, the lawsuit was filed after Berezovsky accused Lebedev of short views, a jugglery with Ukrainian debts to Russia and denouncing former YUKOS chief Mikhail Khodorkovsky to the authorities. The allegations were made in an interview with the Novaya Gazeta newspaper.
Lebedev urged Berezovsky to give a formal denial to the allegations and pay RUR100m ($3.36m) in moral damages.
