After adoption of road map resolution by UN SC Russia expects practical steps from Israel and PNA

After the UN Security Council approved the resolution on the road map, Russia expects practical steps for its fulfillment from Israel and the Palestinian National Administration, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Fedotov told RIA Novosti.

On Wednesday, the UN Security Council unanimously approved the road map, the plan for the Middle East settlement which was worked out by the quartet of international mediators - Russia, the USA, the EU and the UN. The draft resolution was submitted by Russia with the support of the delegations from the European Union, China, Mexico and Chile.

"We hope that the adoption of the resolution will be followed by practical steps towards the implementation of the road map," said Yuri Fedotov.

"It is necessary for the Israeli and Palestinian governments to resume contacts in the near future," believes the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister.

"We proceed from the fact that the road map is the document which was earlier adopted by both sides. Now they have to confirm their promises and to fulfil the road map commitments," said Fedotov.
