Putin approves amendments to state secret law

Vladimir Putin has signed the federal law on amendments to Article 5 of the law On the state secret, the presidential press service reported.

This law was adopted by the State Duma on October 15 and passed by the Federation Council on October 29.

According to RIA Novosti, the document is aimed to exclude information about reserves, extraction, transfer and consumption of platinum, metals of the platinum group and natural diamonds (except the information about the reserves of platinum, metals of the platinum group and natural diamonds kept in the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of the Russian Federation and the Central Bank) from the list of national secret information.

Lifted restrictions on this information will make the market of these precious metals more transparent, more predictable and more attractive for foreign investment, and will not have any negative consequences for the national economic security.
