Indian Nuclear Power specialists to study in Saratov Region

Rosenergoatom signed a contract for study and internships with several workers of the Kudankulam nuclear power station in India, which is being built in cooperation with Russian nuclear scientists and according to a Russian project. The station's future director, chief engineer and chief project engineer will also complete internships at the Balakovsky nuclear power station.

The Rosenergoatom press service told Rosbalt on October 21 that the study program includes a survey of nuclear power station components, VVER-1000 reactors, main duties, equipment and systems. Indian specialists will also study the work of block shield management, turbine compartments, diesel generators and pump stations. Moreover, Indian nuclear power station directors will study the principles of interactive structure subdivisions during exploitation, conduct of planned repairs, change of shifts and other procedural and normative moments in the functioning of a modern high technology nuclear power station.

The first half of the internship will take place at the Balakovksy nuclear power station over a 42-day period. The major themes of study will include conducting repairs at the nuclear power block, interdependence with supervision organs, work of test systems and equipment before the round of physical launching of the energy block. The Kudankulam nuclear power plant is expected to open in 2007. The station will house two nuclear energy blocks of the third generation of high security by Russian project with reactor installations VVER-1000.
