Vice Premier Karelova for social sphere authority increase

Vice Premier Galina Karelova believes that the main task for her is raising the authority of the social sphere, as well as making the state, society and business pay more heed to social problems, she told RIA Novosti Thursday.

Six months ago she was appointed to the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Social Issues.

"Among the priorities I deem the most important are the nation's health, young family support, village social problems, country doctors program development, as well as family-like homes creation for old people," the Vice Premier said.

In her words, realization of these tasks demanded coordination of efforts of ministries and departments of the social bloc, and a more detailed elaboration of welfare programs by interdepartmental working groups.
