Putin: War on terrorism should not interfere with business

The war on terrorism should not hamper business activity, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the second round of the APEC summit, according to a source in the Russian delegation.

"Vladimir Putin urged APEC summit participants to be active and take comprehensive measures to fight terrorism by involving law-enforcement bodies," the source reported.

At the same time, the Russian president emphasized that, "this should not hamper the mobility of business people." According to Vladimir Putin, security should be handled in a complete and thorough fashion.

The Russian leader opined that, "the APEC forum should engage in broader cooperation with international organizations," - the UN, the G-8, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Overall, the summit participants agreed that there was a need for joint anti-terrorist efforts, said the source inside the Russian delegation.
