Russian government does not object to selling package of shares in Yukos-Sibneft

The Russian government does not object to selling a large package of shares in the united Russian Yukos-Sibneft company to the US Exxon-Mobil company.

"There are no juridical obstacles to this deal," the source at the Russian cabinet of ministers told RIA Novosti.

The source said that "Yukos informed the government earlier about the negotiations being held on the possible sale of a large package of Yukos-Sibneft company and about a possible buyer - the Exxon-Mobil company.

Last Friday, chairman of the Exxon-Mobil board of directors Lee R. Roy Raymond informed Russian premier Mikhail Kasyanov at their meeting in Moscow about talks being held on the acquisition of a package of shares in Yukos-Sibneft.
