Russia appreciates Azerbaijan's assistance in anti-terrorist effort

Moscow appreciates Azerbaijan's assistance in the effort against terrorism, Russian Security Council Secretary Vladimir Rushailo has told reporters.

"I am talking, above all, about information Azerbaijan provides on people suspected of a part in terrorist acts," said Mr Rushailo, who arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit Tuesday.

He said Russia and Azerbaijan were maintaining close co-operation in the anti-terrorist area at all levels, exchanging information of interest to both countries.

When asked about the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan, Mr Rushailo said Russia was interested in the continuity of Azerbaijan's current constructive policy.

On Tuesday, Mr Rushailo is expected to meet Ramiz Mekhtiyev, chief of the presidential administration of Azerbaijan, to discuss issues related to the anti-terrorist effort, border area co-operation, the fight against drug traffic and organised crime.
