Vladimir Putin: We Aren't Satisfied with Latest US Proposal on Iraq

'It is worthwhile to strengthen the role of the international community in rebuilding Iraq,' said Russian President Vladimir Putin at the world economic forum in Moscow today. He said that in the near future a new resolution on Iraq will be passed by the UN Security Council, and Russia must participate in the efforts of the international community to normalize life in Iraq.

Speaking about concluded contracts between Russia and Saddam Hussein, Putin said that 'representatives of Iraq have greater trust in traditional partners than in those people who are controlling the country now.' He said that the new Security Council resolution could allow for the enforcement of earlier concluded contracts with Iraq. However, Putin said that 'so far we are not satisfied with the resolution offered by the US.'
