New aviation holding created

The Aviation Holding Company Sukhoi was registered today, Sukhoi General Director Mikhail Pogosyan declared at a news conference held within the framework of the exhibition LIMA-2003 in Malaysia. According to him, the creation of the holding company met world tendencies of enlarging aircraft producers and creating corporations than produced military and civil aircraft. The federal government will own 100 percent in the new holding.

Pogosyan also remarked that Sukhoi was planning to "achieve some definite results" on the Vietnamese market in the near future. Moreover, the market of countries of South Eastern Asia was promising for Sukhoi, he added.

The general director mentioned that Sukhoi and Irkut had decided to establish a center for servicing Su-30 MKM fighters in Malaysia, the press service of Sukhoi reported.

A $900m contract on supplies of 18 Su-30 MKMs to Malaysia was signed in August 2003.
