Vyborg Customs gets an express lane

A grand opening was held today for a new 'green corridor' at the Brusnichny International Automobile Border Crossing of Vyborg Customs. As told to Rosbalt in the press section of the North-West Customs Administration, the corridor is a joint project of the customs services of Russia, Finland and Sweden. It is designed to give significantly simplify and speed up customs paperwork by making it possible for firms to inform customs officials ahead about their shipments. Finland and Sweden are paying for the program. That is surely why the corridor is giving first priority to firms from those two countries.

Russia was represented at the opening by Leonid Lazbenko, first deputy chairman of the State Customs Committee. Sweden and Finland were represented by the chiefs of their customs services. The first two trucks to use the corridor into Russia carried goods for the Valio firm and new foreign-made automobiles, respectively.
