Vladimir Putin to meet with George Bush Sr.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin will meet U.S. ex-President George Bush Sr. on Sunday in the villa of the Russian leader in Sochi, a resort city on the Black Sea shore.

As RIA Novosti sources in the Kremlin say, Putin and the father of the incumbent U.S. president will discuss the situation in the world after September 11, 2001.

"The contribution made by George Bush Sr. in establishing new Russia-U.S. relations and in overcoming cold war vestiges are remembered and appreciated in Russia. It is largely due to the work to that end then that our countries have reached the present level of interaction," the sources said.

One of the central topics in Putin's talk with George Bush Sr. will be Russo-U.S. relations in the past decade and their prospects in the context of the upcoming Russia-U.S. summit.

They are to discuss also the Russian-American dialogue on strategic stability and security and their cooperation in economy, trade and investments with emphasis on the need to remove the barriers still existing in this sphere, the sources in the Kremlin said.
