Russian IT market leaders join forces to fight against spam

Russia's biggest IT market players have formed a coalition against spam. Microsoft public relations representative in Moscow Mikhail Yakushev said in a press conference today that the coalition consists of such IT heavyweights as Microsoft, Rambler, Mail.ru, Golden Telecom, Subscribe.ru, Kaspersky Lab and Ashmanov and Partners.

Coalition participants expressed their concern about the problem of unsanctioned mail and intend to create a system to counter spam. To do this they plan to conduct a free exchange of experiences and perfect programming means in the battle with spam. They also plan to organize a working group to make recommendations to Russian legal authorities to make changes to the laws on advertising. 'Spam uses other network resources, violates private life, brings moral damages, blocks the reception of necessary information, and is also an unprincipled advertisement. Therefore, we must actively fight against it,' said Yakushev.
