RAO UES top executive to run for parliament

RAO UES Chief Executive Officer Anatoly Chubais intends to participate in the Russian parliamentary election as a candidate of the Union of the Right Forces (SPS) party, according to RAO UES press service. Chubais said in his letter to general directors of RAO UES subsidiaries and affiliates that if on September 8 his candidacy were approved at the SPS meeting it would be included in the party's electoral ticket. He reiterated that Russian legislation permitted to participate in elections and govern a joint stock company at the same time. "I would like to emphasize that my participation in the upcoming election does not force RAO UES employees to support the SPS", Chubais said.
