Boris Gryzlov: Law-enforcement bodies must be reorganised to deal with modern crime

Law-enforcement bodies must be completely reorganised and improved in order to deal with the growing level of economic crime. This announcement was made on yesterday by Russian Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov while speaking to students at the ministry's Academy for Economic Safety. He said that only bright and well-educated people can stand up to modern crime. Mr Gryzlov added that the ministry has recently started paying more attention to training its employees. A successful system of professional training has now been introduced within the Russian Interior Ministry.

There are currently 2 universities, 5 academies, 17 institutes, 9 specialised colleges and two other colleges affiliated to the Interior Ministry which together account for over 100 thousand people. There are also five military colleges which prepare officers for interior forces.
