The Russian government had to spend USD 825 thousand on organising military training exercises in the Pacific Ocean. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced yesterday by Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Vladimir Kuroyedov.
In his turn Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Russia could afford to spend money on military training as it is a matter of national security. Russia could face much higher costs if such steps are not taken, according to the minister.
The main aim of the military training, which began on August 18 and involved practically all the different types of forces within the Russian Armed Forces deployed in the Far East, was to increase the level of coordination between different forces in order to provide a higher level of national security. Specialists say that such large-scale military exercises have not been held in Russia for over 15 years.
