Gov't concerned about fate of Moscow car producer

The Russian Ministry of Industry, Science and Technology has addressed the Moscow government proposing to change management of the Moscow automobile producer Moskvich, Deputy Minister of Industry, Science and Technology Sergey Mitin told journalists. According to him, the situation with restoring production at the Moskvich plant remains very complicated. A joint task force of the ministry and the Moscow government has examined the plant's facilities and made the conclusion that the production can be restored.

Mitin noted that the ministry and the group of companies SOK, which is a possible investor in the plant, had made the proposal to change the plant's management and work out a business plan to start production. They have submitted their proposals to the Moscow government. Although the plant is the federal property, the restoration of production at Moskvich depends mainly on the Moscow government, Mitin specified.
