Russian Railways Minister: We can transport freight to Berlin 6 times faster than at present

It currently takes three weeks to transport freight from Moscow to Berlin. However, if documents were registered more quickly and there were less delays at the border this three-week period could be reduced to just one week. Moreover, if the process was properly organised by all the parties involved freight could in fact be transported to the German capital within 3.5 days. According to the press office of the Russian Railways Ministry, this was announced by Russian Railways Minister Gennady Fadeyev yesterday during his visit to the Organisation for the Collaboration of Railways, which is based in Warsaw.

Mr Fadeyev said that 'if the necessary agreement can be reached to speed up freight transportation, it would mark a serious step forward in the development of this particular transportation corridor.'
