Russian frontier guards hold tactical exercise in Far East

Russian frontier guards are holding a unilateral tactical exercise in the Far East.

The exercise is held separately from the large-scale maneuvers of the Pacific Fleet, RIA Novosti learned from the North-east regional frontier department of the Russian Federal Security Service.

During the exercise that will last till August 25th, the troops will train action on land and at sea to protect the state border, the territorial sea, the exclusive economic zone, continental shelf and their natural resources in different conditions.

From August 23rd through 25th the department will hold joint maneuvers with the 17th district of the US coast guards in the Bering Sea.

The agreement on cooperation to protect water biologic resources in the convention district was signed between the Russian frontier guards and the 17th district of the US coast guards in 1996.
