Baltika beer sales increase in Germany in first 7 months of 2003

St. Petersburg brewing company Baltika sold more than 2 million bottles of beer in Germany in the first seven months of 2003. Baltika sold 2.5 million bottles of beer for all of 2002. The Baltikia press service said the increase in sales is mainly due to the opening of its subsidiary Baltika Deutschland GmbH in Hamburg last year.

The press service also said that approximately 4 thousand people visited the Baltika exhibition at the international beer festival in Berlin, which ended August 3. Approximately 230 brewing companies from 75 countries took part in the festival. Baltika was the only participant from Russia. It served Baltika N4 Orginal, Baltika N7 Export and Baltika N8 Wheat on tap at this years festival. In the first quarter of 2003 Baltika produced 3.2 million hectoliters of beer, and exports increased by 9.5% compared to the same period in 2002.
