Moscow pointing out similarity of Mozdok and Jakarta terror acts

Moscow has pointed out similarity between the recent terror act in Mozdok, in southern Russia, and the one perpetrated in Jakarta today. In both cases, the destruction and the loss of life were caused by car bombs, Boris Malakhov, deputy spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in a RIA interview.

The powerful explosion in downtown Jakarta killed 12 people, injuring 103 others. The Russian Foreign Ministry sees the crime as yet another indication that the international terrorist network is alive and kicking, the diplomat said.

According to Malakhov, this barbaric act re-emphasises the need for "tighter consolidation of the world community in its efforts to fight this global evil".

The Aug. 1 terror act in Mozdok left 50 people dead and 80 others wounded. A truck packed with explosives rammed through the gates of Mozdok's military hospital on August 1. The ensuing blast devastated the hospital building, killing 50 people and wounding 80 others.
