Putin: Fight against terrorism remains priority

During a Kremlin ceremony to mark the promotion of senior military officers, President Putin said that the fight against international terrorism remained a "priority area of work for all the power structures." The head of state stressed that FSB analytical units had a particular role to play in this sphere.

"It is important to work on prevention, to cut off the channels of financing and resource support for terrorists, to eliminate their camps and preparation bases," the Russian leader stated. He stressed that terrorists' activity was becoming increasingly violent. "They target peaceful citizens, women and children," he said.

"We must counteract the terrorists with offensive, active tactics and coordinated actions between all agencies," the Russian president stated.
