Gazprom outlines plans of increasing gas production

In 2003, Gazprom plans to increase gas production by 3.7 percent to 541bn cubic meters against 521.9bn cubic meters in 2002. This data was announced at an annual meeting of the company's shareholders in Moscow today. Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said the company intended to participate in realizing the government's ambition to double the national GDP by 2010. To this end, by 2010 Gazprom will increase gas production to 610bn or even to 630bn cubic meters. Miller noted this would be done by putting into operation deposits currently being developed, particularly the Kovykta and the Shtokman deposits.
