Central Bank releases real ruble rate figures

The real effective ruble rate dropped by 2.6 percent in May 2003, the Central Bank said in its survey devoted to the domestic currency market. On the whole, in the period from January to May 2003 the real effective ruble rate practically did not change.

The real ruble rate against the dollar increased by 8.3 percent and dropped by 3.9 percent against the euro in the first five months of 2003. In May the dollar eased back 1.3 percent against the ruble. Since the beginning of this year the dollar rate has retreated 3.4 percent against the ruble.
