The first open championship of firefighters and rescue workers begins in St. Petersburg today. The Emergency Situations Ministry department for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region press service told Rosbalt that teams of rescue workers and firefighters from international sports federation fire brigades and rescue workers member countries and also representatives of countries expressing an interest to gain membership in the organization will take part in the competition.
Teams from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Estonia will compete. The International Sports Federation of Fire Brigades and Rescue Workers, the Emergency Situations Ministry and the Firefighters and Rescue Workers Sports Support Fund are organizing the event.
