Russia is not seeking full European Union membership, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Scottish academic circles.
Russia remains the largest country in the world even after the collapse of the USSR, he noted. According to the President, there are formal difficulties on the way to joining the European Union, for instance, the consolidation of exterior borders. This is the necessary condition and needs much money and time, the Russian leader said.
Europe and Russia could come to an agreement on many issues if it had not been for such issues as Ukraine and Crimea.
