German bankers to negotiate joint projects with Kaliningrad colleagues

A delegation of German bankers from Wartburg arrived in Kaliningrad yesterday to discuss joint Russian-German banking projects and share their expertise and knowledge of new customer services with the personnel of the regional branch of Sberbank of Russia [Savings Bank of Russia].

As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, the German bankers travelled the 1.2 thousand kilometres to Kaliningrad by bicycle, riding through Germany, Poland and Russia. As they announced on arrival in Kaliningrad, the cyclists had simply wanted to show how important it is for them to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The Sparkasse of Germany began collaborating with the Kaliningrad branch of Sberbank of Russia in 1994. They have worked on several joint banking projects and together set up the successful Avantgardestroi company which manufactures construction materials. This time the German bankers will not only meet with banking colleagues but also with several businessmen who may be seeking financial support for their projects.
