Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs called upon Israel and Palestine to adhere to "road map"

At the Sunday meeting with his Israeli counterpart Silvan Shalom Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Igor Ivanov called upon Israel and Palestine to fulfil their obligations within the "road map".

As RIA Novosti was told in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on Monday, the meeting of Ivanov and Shalom centred on the situation in the Middle East in the light of the moves, which are now being made to promote the accords on settling the situation in the region.

"Ivanov made special emphasis on the necessity of consistent fulfilment by the Israeli and Palestinian sides of the obligations they have assumed, and confirmed Russia's intention to render all possible assistance to them in implementing the plan proposed by the 'quartet' (Russia, the USA, the UN and the EU)", the Foreign Ministry employees noted.

In the course of the meeting Ivanov and Shalom confirmed the intention to continue holding the active political dialogue and further developing many-sided relations between the two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia participated in the regular meeting of the representatives of the Four of international mediators on the Middle East settlement at the level of Ministers held in Jordan on Sunday, June 22.
