State system other than presidential republic unacceptable and dangerous for Russia

Vladimir Putin believes that a state system other than the presidential republic is unacceptable and dangerous for Russia.

"For Russia in its current state, considering the complex composition of the Federation, the multinational and multi-ethnic structure of Russia, a state system other than the presidential republic is unacceptable and, all the more so dangerous," the head of state said at a press conference in the Kremlin.

In some countries parliamentary republics operate effectively but this is not for Russia, Putin stressed.

"I don't think that we must question the choice of the entire population of Russia and deny people the right to directly elect the head of state," Vladimir Putin said.
