The work of the Russian diplomats in Iraq will be headed by Charge d'Affaires ad interim Alexander Kinshchak. This has become known from diplomatic sources in Moscow.

As official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko told reporters on Tuesday, in the near future Russia will send to Baghdad the diplomats who worked in the embassy of the Russian Federation and who left Iraq in view of the military operations there.

Alexander Kinshchak occupied the post of a minister-counsellor in the Russian embassy in Baghdad. After a group of Russian diplomats, headed by Ambassador Vladimir Titorenko, left Baghdad at the beginning of April, Alexander Kinshchak remained in the Iraqi capital and performed the duties of the Charge d'Affaires ad interim. Later, as the situation grew tenser, he also left for Moscow. Now, Kinshchak will return to Baghdad to occupy his old post.

As Yakovenko explained, the decision on the return of the Russian diplomats to Iraq "has become necessary due to the resumption of the activity of the embassy in a full scope, and is to be explained not only by the need to ensure our presence in that country but, first of all, by rendering assistance to Russian companies and firms in returning to the Iraqi market."
