Alexis II to meet with Metropolitan of All America and Canada Herman

Alexis II, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, will have a meeting with Herman, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, who has arrived in Moscow on Monday.

The meeting between the Patriarch and the Primate of the American Orthodox Church is set for late June 5, the Ascension of Our Lord holiday, the RIA Novosti correspondent was told in the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate. In the morning of June 5 Metropolitan Herman will serve a liturgy at the Christ the Savior Church.

Before it, in line with the visit program, the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America will visit the St.Trinity Sergius Monastery, Moscow parish schools and the Sofrino Artistic-Industrial Association.

On June 4 Metropolitan Herman will serve a liturgy in the St.Catherine the great martyr's Church at Vspolye, the Moscow office of the American Orthodox Church. In the evening, on eve of the Ascension of Our Lord, the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America will participate in the night service in the Epiphany Cathedral in Moscow.

On June 6 Metropolitan Herman will meet at a lunch with American Ambassador to Russia Alexander Vershbow. This meeting winds up the program of the Metropolitan's stay in Russia.

The Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate recalled that "it is the first official visit of the new Primate of the American Orthodox Church. His enthronization happened on September 8 last year."
