Chechen Administration head believes republic needs special economic status

The Chechen republic needs a special economic status, Ahmad Kadyrov said Saturday at a Gudermes conference with the heads of regional and village administrations.

"We need additional investments to restore the social-economic complex of the republic, and to that end we need a special economic status," the Chechen administration head believes.

Kadyrov reminded those present that the republic's administration was presently working out projects of delimiting authorities between Chechnya and the federal center. In his words, there exist several such projects already.

"But we ought not to commit a mistake here," Kadyrov stressed. In his words, a few versions of the project will be published in the local press, and "we will think it over together which way is better."
