The summit of the member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will take place in Moscow.
As deputy head of the Kremlin administration Sergei Prikhodko said, the leaders of the SCO member-countries "will discuss and approve a whole complex of normative documents which will regulate the Organisation's work and the basic moments of the financial mechanism." These documents include the provisions for the Council of the Heads of State, governments, the Foreign Ministry, national coordinators, the conferences of the heads of ministries and government departments, the Secretariat of the Organisation and the regulations for the Executive Committee.
Thus, this summit will mark the transition from the organisational period of the formation of the SCO to turning it into a full-fledged international organisation.
Another priority of the SCO member-countries is the strengthening of the economic component of the Organisation. They are working out a long-term programme for trade and economic cooperation and are considering concrete economic projects.
It is expected that the candidature of the first Executive Secretary of the SCO will be submitted for the approval of the heads of the member-countries - he is Chinese ambassador in Moscow Zhang Daguang. It is also planned to sign a political Declaration on the results of the summit in Moscow. Apart from that, it is also planned to approve the symbols of the Organisation - its emblem and flag.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was founded in June 2001 with the aim of strengthening the stability and security in the Central Asian region and also for deepening all-round cooperation. The member-countries of the Organisation are Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and China.
