Russian, Azeri Labour Ministers sign co-operation agreement

Russian Labour Minister Alexander Pochinok and his Azeri counterpart Ali Nagiyev signed a co-operation agreement on Monday.

Pochinok told journalists that the document stipulated interaction between the two countries in the sphere of labour protection, as well as education and healthcare.

He pointed to a joint draft of pension legislation that would allow Azeri specialists working in Russia to earn money for their pensions in this country.

The ministers lamented the fact there was no trustworthy data on the number of working migrants in both countries. At the same time, according to the Azeri Ministry of Labour's information, about two million of citizens that country are currently living and working in Russia.

The sides expressed their hope that the signing of the agreement will help solve the problem of the social protection of both countries' citizens, while also enhancing co-operation in the welfare sphere.
