G-8 Finance Ministers meeting in Doville alongside anti-globalists

A meeting of G-8 finance ministers in a small resort town of Doville, northern France, is accompanied by explosions of detonating cartridges and slogans shouted by opponents of globalisation.

Protesters demand putting an end to globalisation of capital and meeting urgent needs of the working population. In general the protest in which activists of a number of French and foreign non-governmental organisations are taking part is proceeding rather peacefully.

Meanwhile the ministers are discussing the means to boost economic growth, particularly in the developing countries. The agenda also stipulates the struggle against the financing of terrorism and money laundering, and matters related to the prevention and settlement of financial and economic crises.

Finance Minister Aleksei Kudrin who, unlike with previous similar meetings, is participating in all plenary sessions, represents Russia at the meeting.
